Blogger’s Bio

Riley Kane writes and reviews books. She writes YA and crossover spec fic/science fantasy for the young adult she used to be and all the teens/young adults like that. Her work always includes diverse racial, queer, and ability representation and she frequently works with sensitivity readers to properly write authentic experiences.

Riley reviews mostly the kinds of books she would write! Unless the book is problematic, only positive reviews will be posted. Riley’s belief is that, just because a book wasn’t to her taste, it doesn’t deserve a bad review.

This blog was inspired by the ongoing writing journey and the black box that seems to stand between writing a thing and seeing it published. “In the course of events” is a phrase Riley likes to use when she’s not sure how she got a character from scene A to scene B but she knows it was awesome and she’ll figure it out later. Maybe we’ll get to peek into that black box and see exactly how the course of events really happens.

Riley lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her dog, Zoe.

Note: Riley Kane is a pen name to protect the writer from overeager coworkers’ questions. It was previously Valerie Kane and this may still be present in some posts.
